Sketch Saturday Challenge

This week over at Sketch Saturday http://sketchsaturday.blogspot.com/ the challenge is to make a card using any of the last 30 sketch's. I chose to use sketch #17.

To make, I used a Magnolia image, coloured with distress inks, mounted onto purple bazzil which was embossed using a cuttlebug folder. DCWV backing paper, ribbon from stash, a Pink Petticoat sentiment, sparkly gems and craft work cards sherbet drops.

Here's my bling!!!

Here it is - my lovely ring. Couldn't decide which pic to post so thought I would post both. Not so sure I like my hands being pictured, defiantly need to invest in a descent hand cream! lol. x

Morning all - hope to get a bit of crafting done today, but so far I've just blog hopped!!!! In the process I've come across some amazing candy which is up for grabs: In no particular order....
Over at Spiral Whisper they are giving away a set of the new release of stamps and a chance to win a set - they are super cute!
Kath has FAB blog candy but you have to be quick it finishes today. Take a look here :)

This weeks challenge over at Papertake Weekly is monochromatic, here is my first ever ever attempt at monochromatic - not sure exactly that it counts due to skin and hair colour - but never mind, I love colouring these images - so much so I have a little pot of coloured cut out ones! Why I don't know......
Apologies for the blurry pic - I'm not the greatest with the camera, may have had the wrong setting plus dodgy lighting, I might start scanning cards in to see how that works. I used a cc deign download, coloured with pro markers & copics, highlighted with a sakura gel pen, stuck onto DCWV paper, I raised the wing with a 3d foam pad. Cut out the shapes with nestabilities, sentiment is studio g, gems from stash.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge

I'm on a roll! Having got last weeks in by the skin of my teeth - I'm cooking on gas this week, the new challenge was only posted this morning!!!!! This weeks theme over at Penny Black Saturday Challenge is:
Sentiment Only

For this challenge http://pennybfriendssaturdaychallenge.blogspot.com/ I have used a sentiment from a transparencies kit, stamped using brilliance ink. The papers are from DCWV, the card is bazzil. The sentiment was cut out using nestabilities, the gems are from my stash.

Never Forget

In the run up to remembrance Sunday I have been trying to find a poppy widget - with no luck, so I decided to put an image up instead. I could not believe it when I saw this image, the wording is that of the tattoo my boyfriend Adam has tattooed on the inside of his arm. He had this done earlier this year when he came back from Afghan - he is a Royal Marine.

(This picture was taken a few hours after having it done, it looks nice now)

The wording is a quote by Laurence Binyon, it is part of a long verse which is read out at repatriations and military funerals. Adam was present at a couple of repatriations during his time in Afghan, he lost 3 friends out their during his tour, and then a lad from his company upon return.

Here is his latest work photo (he was air brushed - he had a spot!), he is a PTI (gets the new recruits fit). I'm so very proud of him. x

I am from a forces family, several generations of my family have served in the different forces throughout the different conflict's which our country has been involved in. All our service's do such a fantastic job - they should be remembered more often - and never forgotten.

For The Fallen:

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children, England mourns for her dead across the sea. Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit, Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres, There is music in the midst of desolation And a glory that shines upon our tears.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young, Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted; They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
They mingle not with their laughing comrades again; They sit no more at familiar tables of home; They have no lot in our labour of the day-time; They sleep beyond England's foam.
But where our desires are and our hopes profound, Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight, To the innermost heart of their own land they are known As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust, Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain; As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness, To the end, to the end, they remain.

Pollycraft Challenge

Here is a card I've made this afternoon whilst channel hopping! The image is so cute it is a download available at Pollycraft http://www.pollycraftdesigns.co.uk/epages/es110425.sf. This image is one from a set of 3 called Doodle & dreams Penelope (you get all 3 for £1.59 - what a bargain).

Pollycraft also have a blog, and a challenge on the blog, this card is for their second challenge, you have to use something available from their site - this fortnights challenge was - STRIPES.

To make this card I coloured Penelope in using water colour pencils, cut her out using nestabilities, matted onto bazzil which was also cut out using nestabilities. The stripy paper is also a download from http://summertimedesigns.blogspot.com/. Ribbon from stash. A studio g stamp - stamped with glue them glitter from stash sprinkled over the top. Gems also from stash.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge

Well I almost missed out on this one - this again is a classic example of good intentions not going quite to plan - or losing the mojo having started something. This weeks theme over at Penny Black Saturday Challenge http://pennybfriendssaturdaychallenge.blogspot.com/ was:
Get Sparkly/Bonfire night
I had the perfect firework stamp (I brought it at Exeter's big craft fair the other week) I used the small ink daubers QVC sold ages ago, I stamped it onto navy blue card loads of times - then I was stuck! Its taken me until today to finish it off with some small stamps from the transparencies sets, I coloured them with water colour pencils, the sentiment is doodlebug alphabet. I used a glue pad and sprinkled glitter over the letters.

I also tore a piece of green card to have the appearance of grass. Apologies for the poor pics - bad lighting this time of day! Have taken two pics one with and one without the flash. Will take a better one tomorrow.

Double Challenge

This week I have come by a new Challenge The Forever Friends Challenge blog http://www.foreverfriendschallengeblog.blogspot.com/- having already stamped this image and decided to give decoupage ago for the very first time, I thought I would have ago at this challenge, whilst being oh so slow in its production, Wednesday rolled round! This weeks ABC challenge is P = Pink. I love pink http://abc-challenge.blogspot.com/.
I have coloured the image with prismas and sansador, I just cant seen to get the colour quite right, so will keep practicing!!!! The image is in 3 layers, the heart and paws make the second layer and the paws the third. The heart was cut out with a sizzix die, & embossed with the divine swirls cuttlebug folder. I rubbed a silver brilliance ink pad over the raised embossed bits. The card is bazzil and the paper doodlebug, sentiment is Woodware and the gems are from my ever so messy stash!!!

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge

That stamp again!!! :) I love this image, I have used it for this weeks Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge, http://thesecretcraftersaturdaychallenge.blogspot.com/ This weeks challenge was:
"Blue, White and a little bit of snowflake!".
I used the Penny Black image coloured it with copics, added glamour dust to give a sparkly wintry snowy feel, mounted it onto bazzil, then onto some gorgeous DCWV backing paper, and again onto matching bazzil. I then cut out a sonw flake from a sizzix die (which I brought today - could not believe my luck when they had this set in), I finished with the cute snowflake sentiment, which I stamped in Mediterranean blue by brilliance. I brought this sentiment from The Stamp boutique on EBay ages ago, however the lady who made this stamp, Sally-Ann has her own blog http://www.lovetodoodle.blogspot.com/ which links you to her fab download blog/shop. She is very talented and has a range of cute stamps available from Spiral Whisper.

Papertake Weekly Challenge

This weeks Papertake Weekly Challenge is based on a great sketch http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com/.

Having coloured the below snowmen (in the below post) with copics I thought I'd have another go. This is another lovely stamp I brought at the Exeter craft fair, I love it - I love them all, lol...... I enhanced the flowers by putting glossy accents on them, so htey have a slight glimmer to them. I cut it out with nestability dies, then layered it onto silver matted card, also cut out with scalloped nestability die. I ran some matching silver card through the Divine swirls embossing folder. The silver strip across the front was also run through the dotted embossing folder, the brads are gorgeous made by papermania. The sentiment is by Pink Petticoat, mounted onto matching card cut out using a cuttlebug die.

1st Penny Black image coloured with copics.

I love this image, I brought the stamp a few weeks ago - again down in Exeter at the craft show in preparation for Christmassy creations!!! This is the first time it has seen ink, I have never coloured a Penny Black image with copics, but I broke that trend with this image, I was quite pleased with how it turned out.
I added glamour dust to the scarfs, mounted the image onto a pinky burgundy coloured card stock, then onto a pink card stock which I embossed using the snow flake cuttlebug folder from some fancy shimmery card from my local craft shop. The snow flakes are cut from a cuttlebug die.

Friday Sketchers challenge

I cant believe this is my 3rd post today - not sure what is wrong with me!!! lol This weeks sketch was great, I had fun making this card, its a good old Elzybells image, coloured with copics, layered onto dark blue bazzil. The papers are DCWV, sparkly ribbon from my ribbon draw, the sentiment is doodlebug cut out using nesties.

Guess what NO GLAMOUR DUST on this card, sure I will make up for it later......
This card was made based on the sketch for this weeks Friday Sketchers Challenge. http://fridaysketchersblog.blogspot.com/

Secret Crafters Saturday Challenge

It is the Secret Crafters Saturday Challenge - week 2. I love the sketch for this weeks challenge, so last night I had ago, here is what I came up with, I love the backing paper, I have had it ages, but it is one of those I just kept looking at/stroking - then I realised I can always buy more!!!!! How daft am I??? The image is Elzybells, coloured with copics, glamour dust added the to bees trail (I'm so predictable) pink grosgrain ribbon form my ribbon draw, and 3 pretty pink and white flowers I have acquired along the way. The sentiment is Studio G.
Check out the new challenge, its fab. x http://thesecretcraftersaturdaychallenge.blogspot.com/

Stamp Something challenge

This week the challenge over at Stamp Something http://stampchallenges.blogspot.com/ is Something for a friend. So I had this lovely Laura Ashley paper, and a gorgeous Elzybells stamp, so decided to make a simple pink and yellow card. I coloured the image with copics, blinged up the wings with glamour dust, added some gorgeous sparkly gems in the corners - must get some more of this colour! I ran a strip of yellow bazzil through a cuttlebug embossing folder, used my lovely new threading water fiskars punch which I acquired at Exeter's massive craft fair the other week, then added a craft work cards sentiment.

Double challenge

Here is a card I have made - initially just by colouring in the image, however it soon turned into a birthday card for my cousins little girl Izobel who will be 2 - next May!!!!! I'm a bit worried as I am just not that organised........... I'm sure I will make her several more by then.
This card is for Cute Card Thursday's challenge is: Lots of sparkle!
You can add bling, glitter, baubles, stickles, anything that makes your card sparkle!
http://cutecardthursday.blogspot.com/

Also the card is for daring Card Makers is: King (or Queen) for a day, incorporate a Crown (or Tiara) somewhere upon your card!

I coloured the Sugar Nellie image with prismas and sansador, I coloured all the stars in with H2O's, added glossy accents to the tiara star, and glamour dust to the wings. I mounted the image onto some great sparkly/shimmery paper I got from the local craft shop, added a sentiment, and attached it with a small papermania brad, which is covered in tiny stars. The number is chipboard, covered in white card, smothered in glue with a dusting of glamour dust.

The picture has not come out as well as I would have liked as it is dark now, however I have added two pics, one with the flash one, one without, it shows the two tone shimmery paper off a treat!

The pic above was with the flash, and is what the papers look like, below is without the flash.

Lili of the valley challenge

Lili of the valley have started a new challenge blog http://liliofthevalleythursdaychallenge.blogspot.com/, so I thought it would be rude not to take part! This weeks challenge theme is WELCOME. I made a welcome baby boy card. Its not meant for anyone, but can stay in my box for now.

I used a Magnolia image, coloured it with water colours, and glittered the wings with glamour dust, I cut out the image using nesties, layered it onto white card, which had been embossed using a cuttlebug folder, I rubbed a blue brilliance ink pad over the raised dots, wrapped a ribbon round the card, added a sentiment and charm, then layered it onto matching green card stock.

I am looking forward to their second challenge - which is tomorrow. Nothing like getting your home work done by the skin of your teeth!!! lol

Spoon Full of Sugar challenge

This weeks Spoon Full of Sugar challenge is based on a sketch. http://aspoonfullofsugarchallenge.blogspot.com/
I used a Penny Black image, coloured it with prismas and sansador, mounted it onto a slightly shimmery bazzil card stock, the backing paper is DCWV which I love as it is sparkly. I used a fiskars border punch to create the pretty borders, and added prima flowers, the brads and charm - which says "made with love" are form the Exeter craft fair, I will add a sentiment to the card, when I decide who its for.

Scrummy Stash Cafe challenge

I'm hanging out for Funky Kits to release the new H & S stamps, however in the mean time I had a splurge last week at the big craft fair down in Exeter, I went on Thursday thinking it wouldn't be too busy as it's a week day, but it was heaving!!! I had fun, and spent a few pennies. Not content with the stash of Magnolias and penny Black stamps I came home with, I found myself on EBay buying 4 more, which arrived yesterday. They are all soooooooooo lovely, I'm wasting so much time just looking at my lovely new shiny bits, I've not used them yet!!! lol.

Anyway - I have also taken the plunge, and done what I said I "WOULD NOT DO", I was just not convinced by them, however, I gave in - having seen so many great cards on various blogs using the Forever Friends stamps, I have the will power of a wet Kitkat as that lasted all of 5 minutes, I am the proud owner of two!

Here is my first attempt at colouring the image, I used prismas and sansador, I'm not sure the colour is exact, but I'm not sure you will ever get it exactly the same, I mounted it onto purple card stock, ran a white bit of card through the cuttlebug swiss dots folder, mounted it onto matching purple card, wrapped some gorgeous ribbon I've had in my stash forever round the card, and added a craft work card sentiment.

The layout is based on a sketch used in this weeks Scrummy Stash Cafe challenge http://scrummystashcafe.blogspot.com/ the challenge is based on a sketch, and to use some vintage lace or edging, I don't own any lace (will have to sort that out) so I have used some old ribbon instead!
